Overview

In this activity, students will play the roles of managers of a 400-acre (163-hectare) piece of public forests.  Through these roles, students will begin to understand the complex considerations that influence management decisions about forest lands.

Objectives

• Create a management plan for a hypothetical piece of public forest land, taking into account factors such as ecosystem stability, monetary income or costs, wildlife, water, and visitors.
• Experience the analysis and decision making that goes into management forest land.
